New Jersey Autism and ABA Resources
New Jersey was the first state in the country to require private insurance coverage for autism services, enacting its mandate in 2004. NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid) also covers ABA, and New Jersey has one of the strongest overall autism coverage frameworks in the country. Provider density is highest in northern New Jersey, with good access across most of the state.

Early intervention in New Jersey (ages 0–3)
Early Intervention System of New Jersey
If your child is under 3, New Jersey families may qualify for free early intervention services through Early Intervention System of New Jersey. Services can include speech therapy, developmental support, and behavior support at no cost, even before a formal diagnosis. Once your child turns 3, services shift from early intervention to the public school system under IDEA Part B. Your state's OSEP State Lead oversees special education implementation, including IEPs and school-based support, across New Jersey.
