Arizona Autism and ABA Resources
Arizona has one of the stronger ABA service systems in the Southwest, with a large provider network in the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas. AHCCCS (the state Medicaid agency) covers ABA, and the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) administers waiver programs that can provide long-term support for children and adults with autism. Rural communities and tribal lands face significant access gaps.

AHCCCS covers medically necessary ABA for eligible children under 21 with prior authorization. Arizona also has an extensive HCBS waiver system for ongoing support; ask your provider or AHCCCS about available waiver programs.
Early intervention in Arizona (ages 0–3)
Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP)
If your child is under 3, Arizona families may qualify for free early intervention services through Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP). Services can include speech therapy, developmental support, and behavior support at no cost, even before a formal diagnosis. Arizona OSEP State Lead
Once your child turns 3, services shift from early intervention to the public school system under IDEA Part B. Your state's OSEP State Lead oversees special education implementation, including IEPs and school-based support, across Arizona.
